Vice Chancellor’s Foreword

The PNG University of Technology Annual Report 2025 highlights a year of significant growth and achievement. The University celebrated the full accreditation of all five engineering programs by Engineers Australia under the Washington Accord, strengthening the international recognition of PNGUoT engineering graduates. The University also hosted the Pacific Island Universities Research Network Conference, creating opportunities for regional research collaboration and partnerships.

The establishment of the Office of Strategic Internationalization further strengthened PNGUoT’s international engagement. Access to higher education also expanded with online enrolment increasing from 500 students in 2024 to 800 in 2025. Total enrolment reached approximately 4,000 students, including around 250 postgraduate students and 30 doctoral candidates.

Infrastructure improvements continued across the campus, including refurbishment of buildings and completion of the new Student Dining Hall, officially opened in October 2025. The University also launched its Strategic Plan 2025–2029, focused on Academic Excellence, Research Excellence, Partnership and Operational Excellence.

Financial accountability remained strong with another unqualified audit opinion, marking nine consecutive years of unqualified audit outcomes. These achievements reflect PNGUoT’s continued commitment to quality education, research, innovation and national and regional development.
